The adventures of PHP

Pherlock Homels and Phatson must earn PHP certification to stop Poriarty's evil plans.

The great detective Pherlock Homels and his inseparable assistant Phatson, better known as PHP, face a terrible threat in cyberspace created by the evil genius Poriarty. To defeat it, they will need to prepare and thoroughly master the PHP programming language. The first step toward confronting the dangerous Poriarty is earning PHP certification.

How can we prepare for certification?

There are many resources online, but many are outdated. The best resource is the PHP manual, preferably its English version, because translations are sometimes not very accurate. Some sections are incomplete or unclear, but it is the most comprehensive source of information about PHP and should be used as a reference.

Another crucial resource is practice. Practice, practice and practice. No matter how much we read the manual or watch PHP tutorials and blogs, without practical experience we will forget the information we receive. Information is not the same as knowledge.

Other useful resources include hiring a tutor and enrolling in an online or in-person class.

To be continued

I will closely follow Pherlock Homels and Phatson's progress and publish new posts about their advances. Follow me on Twitter for the latest news. For now, I can only tell you that I am preparing notes about their discoveries concerning basic language syntax, some operators Poriarty uses to confuse people reading his code, and a function that can practically work magic with arrays.
