Hackatons to help!

My first hackathon with TeamStaySafe at The Global Hack, learning together and building something to help.

For a while, I have been looking for ways to help in the current situation. Last Friday I saw an opportunity and I decided to go for it, instead of keeping idealizing about it. That was like I started my adventure with #TeamStaySafe! I subscribed to #TheGlobalHack and it was really difficult to choose to cooperate between so many great ideas. I saw the team StaySafe and I felt really connected because the enthusiasm, the desire to help and create an impact for good in the world of this team were really contagious. It’s really inspiring how the new generations are taking consciousness of the problems that we’re facing right now, and they are ready to help.

These were my conditions previous to the Hackaton:

Experience:

  • Hackaton: None
  • React-Native: None
  • Mobile development: None
  • Firebase: None

Willing to:

  • Collaborate: Really high
  • Be helpful: Really high
  • Be supportive: Really high
  • Learn: Really high

That resulted in a great formula! I learned more in those 48 hours thanks to my team that in many hours of the courses that I had passed. Still, a lot to continue to learn and to improve but I feel grateful for the experience.

When I signed for the hackathon I honestly wasn’t looking for any prize other than help, but I’m really honored that our team has won second place in the track: Empowerment and Solidarity in Action!

Congrats to all the winners, participants, mentors and organizers of #theglobalhack! It was a great experience and I’m sure many of the ideas that came from it will have a real impact on our world. Thanks to my team #TeamStaySafe, and to my family for all the support they gave me during those sleepless nights!
